So, the little header you might have noticed 'round these parts entitled "Scene Et Al"? The caption isn't the only element of the section that's "fraught with levels of meaning" (yep, fully acknowledging how stodgy the expression sounds...just envision me in a vintage suit with a pipe in my mouth, and maybe I can get by with it).
Do...Not...Resist
Scene Et Al is where I'll post various clips exclusive to this site (because hey, I'm being bombarded with requests to bitch and moan in bad lighting...KIDDING).
However, the "scene-within-the-scene" is that of a little on-line show produced for uber...and the title of the show is—hopefully you guessed it—Scene Et Al.
Showroom Exterior: Magic Awaits Inside
MISSION STATEMENT FOR THE SHOW:
Well, obviously I'll be getting my gab on with at least one guest, since I already gave the head's up I'll be CLINTerviewing.
The ilk of whom I hand-pick? People whom I find relevant to the Zeitgeist.
I want to delve into topics such as what they think about contemporary beauty standards; I want to hear their take on how and through what means fashion is relevant to history; I want to hear about where they've come from (both physically as well as their point-of-view) and what effect the journey thus far has had in whichever field in which they've gained notoriety.
Yeah, I'm ready. Just, you know, "GETTIN' READY"
BRING IT!
So:
At the core of it all?
I want to talk about style—as it's disparate from fashion. Fashion is fleeting, but is Salvador Dalî's style of painting? Or what about William S. Burroughs' style of writing? Frank Lloyd Wright's style of architecture?
What you won't hear me ask? "What inspires you?"
The generic garbage queried by lazy journalists is available elsewhere...or rather, anywhere.
What you'll see instead? Casual interaction with peeps I don't just think are "cool."
It's easy to be "cool"—just log online and follow the pre-determined checklist for whichever category appeals to you.
Who I want for my show? The single person (plural, perhaps) without whom the proverbial "scene" wouldn't be what it is today if he/she/they never existed.
Those who didn't accommodate the mold, but helped make it...by breaking it.
That being said, the first person to whom I turned is the inimitable jewelry designer and style icon: Tarina Tarantino.
So Gorge I Wanna Gag! Love Her, And Love That Albert Sanchez...
(celebrity shutterbug responsible for this image, as well as her "Tokyo Hardcore" catalog)
Inimitable...yet how many girls (and guys) have established an aesthetic unquestionably dependent on this one person's 'brand'—and by brand, I'm referring to it in the "That's so Mary Kate" and "Ewww? That top? Way too Paris Hilton for a barbeque" sense of the word.
No, seriously: if (God forbid) Tarina Tarantino were never born, what affect might that have on the 14 to 34 year old "Scene Queens" or "Wanna-Be's" default photos alone?
Sheeeeet, maing! I can't even contemplate...
Which is why you should stay tuned...Keep those false eyelashes peeled, 'cause the premier episode of Scene Et Al is coming—and it's coming soon.
(Also "coming soon"? The 'MUST HAVE' bag of the season:
Covet. LOVE it...
as well as the 'reveal' of something way all kinds of exciting. TRUST!)
"I want to talk about style—as it's disparate from fashion. Fashion is fleeting, but is Salvador Dalî's style of painting? Or what about William S. Burroughs' style of writing? Frank Lloyd Wright's style of architecture?"
^^ I think every kind of style whether it be fashion, writing, architecture (etc, etc) is ALL fleeting. For it to remain 100's and 100's of years later, someone has to believe in it. Admire it. Want it to stay the same for the simple fact that, "Times are changing way TOO fast." Technology is getting a hold of everything. People are forgetting about the sweet/simple beauties of life.
I think that's why I ache for the old times (even though I'm only 20 therefore not of that era, and not old enough to ache for it, and yet I do). The old times with: fashionable clothing, where woman dressed up all the time and men wore suits. Times where there was such a thing as a milk-man. As malt shops. As radio shows. Times where men were true gentlemen. Getting a letter in the mail as opposed to an email (that wasn't heart-felt, didn't take time/thought, even if the words were heart-felt). Seeing one movie after another and never been thrown out of the movie theaters and so much more.
In order for something to stick around you must want it enough. Even if people say that you're emulating someone else/a copycat. So what?! The style will only stay alive if you go for it. And if you get others to agree with you than it's a done deal. The style whatever it may be exists as long as one person takes it with them in life no matter how many years go by.
I hope one day that I'm an icon people remember, with whatever I decide to do in life. That would be a true honor. And those who do it without shitting over people to get on top, really are admirable.
I'm sorry I'm getting off subject on most of your post but you got me GOING! I can't wait to see the show.

But yeah I guess that I have been doing fine, I am talking to new people, and I realized that talking to people that you do not know help you realize little things about yourself that you never thought possible. =] I love you! =]
I'm still such an imbecile at this- I tried to reply to you on your page and ended up talking on my own page, alas! mais voila ici:
Clare Barry May 13, 2008 11:34 AM But within that- maybe, if you hadn't turned around those five years of duck and cover everytime you heard/saw something click/flash then the subscriptions that your stashing up might not be coming so thick and fast?- Don't worry, I'm not saying that without the pictures that you havn't got a talent for writing- it's just there are far too many people out there who read books to look at the pictures (!)...and I don't believe in coincidences.
Not to mention, I can't remember where I read it- but it stuck with me- they say good models arn't perfectly aligned and asthetic. A good model is the person that walks into the room and has the attention of everyone in there- they're not attractive, just some sort of aura around them is fascinating. It sounds subjective but I know it's true, I've witnessed it. Ha. Which is also completely a normative statement, and you could write that off as irrelevent but never the less.
And yeah baby. Great Britain born and bread. How could you tell? Bar the cussing every other word and the use of 'git' (!)
You of all people should know. heartfelt comments such as the one i sent you are all inspired by the fond feelings for the person the comment has been left for. I didnt even have to think about a thing when i typed those words, I just had to read and let my heart take control.
Oh and yeah, I'm the eldest son in a 7 kid family, so i do very well understand what you where saying in the comment you left me. Anyway Clint, I don't really need to tell you this but I will anyway. Chin up, and, mister solo critter, I'm part of and over populated pack. we can quite easily balance eachother out. One more thing. Guess who is at the top of my top friends? Thats right! It's you. The great Double C
You know, dear, everyone is entitled to their opinion. doesn't, however, make it correct, factual, etc. I dare say that someone either doesn't have the ability to deal with your talent, which is sad, or they're jealous, which is more sad. If all they have room for in their space is bitterness, let them have it. Those of us who admire your creativity and can't wait to see what thrilling thing you'll participate in next are the ones who are lucky. Lucky to be aware of your talent and to enjoy it with you.
And I'M lucky to have individuals like you in my life who exert the time and energy to be supportive. // I only wish I were able to respond to whomever it is that sent this missive... // Why does uber have guests enter their email addresses if I'm unable to click 'Reply' and uh, EMAIL THEM? // One of the great unanswered mysteries of the universe... // I mean, halt all research on terminal illnessness, like, PRONTO! // As a self-centered egotistical over-privileged American it is my God Given Right to Have It My Way Or Not Way... // Come on, tech-heads: am I right, or am I RIGHT?
